Baggage: Addiction

Do you have any funny personal habits?  You know, little quirks or patterns that seem to pop up when you’re nervous or excited.  I have one.  On my right hand there is a little callous on my index finger. It is there because when I am nervous I like to push on my front tooth with my index finger.  Weird, right?  Some people bite their nails but I push my tooth.

A lot of habits are harmless but sometimes they grow and take on a life of their own.  Like a weed that starts small but then takes over your whole yard!  Sunday at Crossroads Church in Cranberry we are talking about those habits that have grown so big that they have become addictions, those things in our lives that have taken over control.

Take some time this week to read Romans chapters 7-8 and join us Sunday as we look at how we can take off the baggage of addiction in our lives.

10 Ideas to Break the 65 Barrier by Nelson Searcy

Over the past 16 years God has allowed me to serve in ministries that have grown.  Some have moved quickly and others have taken a little more time.  Though most of my experience has been in the American mega-church over the past few months I have started to learn a little more about ministry growth in smaller congregations and church plants.  Here are some thoughts from a audio lesson entitled: Breaking the 65 Barrier by Nelson Searcy.  You can find more from Nelson here: http://www.churchleaderinsights.com/index.php/

The New Normal

Every once in while, something happens in this world that changes everything and creates a new normal.  As a college student, I remember vividly watching another student write to her boyfriend on another campus through a computer in the library.  I remember teasing her about this new way to communicate.  “What are you doing?” I asked.  “Emailing” she said.  I responded with, “Boy that will never catch on!”

I was wrong!

This weekend at Crossroads Church in Cranberry we are starting a new series entitled, “New Normal.”  We are going to look at an event that happened 2000 years ago and has changed the world on a cosmic scale!  An event so powerful that it has created a New Normal for over 2 billion people this week alone!

Join us Sunday as we celebrate Easter at Crossroads Church.  Maybe today you need a new normal in your life.  On Sunday, we will look at how God can be the one who resurrects your dead dreams and gives you the power to change; how Jesus can create a “new normal” in you.
